Daniel King
Data center & AI policy
I am a research fellow at the Foundation for American Innovation, where I work on policy for frontier AI. Historically, my work has focused on infrastructure: AI factories (a.k.a. "data centers"), grid modernization, and utilities reform. I have published and testified on the buildout of AI factories as well as behind-the-meter generation.
I started Policy Gradients, a Substack about data centers and AI policy; it has since grown into the publication of FAI's AI team, where I continue to write. Previously, I did a stint in data science research and worked at a turbine startup, where I designed computational fluid dynamics experiments.
I did my M.A. in Statistics and Data Science and my B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and Applied Math. Before that, my specialization was in classical flute performance.
